When writing a formal or informal document, one of the decisions you have to make is about the type of font that you want your typing in.
A font is the type of style that is used when writing your document.
Here is a famous font used in a film:

Type Face
A design for a set of characters, popular typefaces include Times Roman, Helvetica, and Courier. The typeface represents one aspect of a font. The font also includes such characteristics as size, weight, italics, and so on.
There are two general categories of typefaces: serif and sans serif. Sans serif typefaces are composed of simple lines, whereas serif typefaces use small decorative marks to embellish characters and make them easier to read. Helvetica is a sans serif type and Times Roman is a serif type.
If you use a font and it is the wrong size when you send it somewhere then it could expand and ruin the document by looking childish and unprofessional when it is too big.
Kerning
The adjustment of space between pairs of
letters to make them more visually appealing is known as kerning. It is normally applied to
individual letter pairs in headlines or other large type. Kerning is not
usually done with body text because the gaps between characters at body text
sizes are generally not as distracting.
