Fonts and type face.

Font
When writing a formal or informal document, one of the decisions you have to make is about the type of font that you want your typing in.

A font is the type of style that is used when writing your document.

Here is a famous font used in a film:

Type Face

A design for a set of characters, popular typefaces include Times Roman, Helvetica, and Courier. The typeface represents one aspect of a font. The font also includes such characteristics as size, weight, italics, and so on.

There are two general categories of typefaces: serif and sans serif. Sans serif typefaces are composed of simple lines, whereas serif typefaces use small decorative marks to embellish characters and make them easier to read. Helvetica is a sans serif type and Times Roman is a serif type.

If you use a font and it is the wrong size when you send it somewhere then it could expand and ruin the document by looking childish and unprofessional when it is too big.

Kerning

The adjustment of space between pairs of letters to make them more visually appealing is known as kerning. It is normally applied to individual letter pairs in headlines or other large type. Kerning is not usually done with body text because the gaps between characters at body text sizes are generally not as distracting.

Unit 51 Task 2 - Digital Copyright and permissions.

Digital Copyright and permissions

Copyright is automatically given to whoever makes a product, but then proving that you were the first becomes the problem if anyone tries to copy it. This is why the copyright symbol was introduced (©).
If you licence the copyright then you are entitled to receive royalties; such as: access to the product, freebies from the creator of the company, etc. You cannot copy physical structures or ideas from other companies or independent forms. However if you did copy an idea from a company and the proof that you came up with the idea first is immaterial then you have no legal standpoint to hold onto.

To plan photoshoot for DPS by reasearching images and evaluating the last shoot for my front cover.

1. How could you have taken better photos for your front cover?

In my first photo shoot I feel I could have made it better by taking more photographs and making sure that most of the pictures were not blurry and being sure that the quality was top notch.

2.  Which made up act will feature in your DPS?

My DPS will consist of my new made up band, f I cannot get the old models from my last photo shoot. I am in the process of planning the details of this made up band.

3. Who will model and why?

Front cover act were: Sonny, Sean, Jack and Jay.

Possible new models for new act: Joe (cousin) - could be a solo act? He would look like a convincing solo indie artist because he has got long hair.

4. Which settings in Brighton would you use and why?

  • The Brighton Eye
  • The Pier
  • The Doughnut

Aim:To consider what the purpose of a DPS is and the key features within them as an article.

What is a DPS?
  • A Double Page Spread
  • 2 facing pages of a magazine where the textual material on the left continues to the right hand side.

  • "Arcade fire: storm the castle" -   They have been touring the UK
  • "The album that changed everything" - Nirvana have just released their new album "Nevermind"

Analysing a DPS about

What does the headline suggest about the story?

Liam Gallagher appeared in NME's 60 year edition and had this to say:
"It's the only mag I buy, even if there's knobheads on the front".
The editors of the magazine used this as the title to shock casual readers (who do not read the magazine all the time) of what Liam usually says.

What is the message of this article?

The main message of the article is that it is the 60th anniversary of NME so they are talking about Liam's past in Oasis.

How does the first line try to interest you?

In the first lines Liam and the interviewer talk about how when Oasis were starting out is that it was really helpful and important to get their name more out there, Liam says "Yeah man, it's THE f*cking music magazine!"

What % would you say the "quotes" are?

It seems that a large percentage of the interview is Liam talking about what he has been asked and what the interviewer has asked him.
