Aim:To consider what the purpose of a DPS is and the key features within them as an article.

What is a DPS?
  • A Double Page Spread
  • 2 facing pages of a magazine where the textual material on the left continues to the right hand side.

  • "Arcade fire: storm the castle" -   They have been touring the UK
  • "The album that changed everything" - Nirvana have just released their new album "Nevermind"

Analysing a DPS about

What does the headline suggest about the story?

Liam Gallagher appeared in NME's 60 year edition and had this to say:
"It's the only mag I buy, even if there's knobheads on the front".
The editors of the magazine used this as the title to shock casual readers (who do not read the magazine all the time) of what Liam usually says.

What is the message of this article?

The main message of the article is that it is the 60th anniversary of NME so they are talking about Liam's past in Oasis.

How does the first line try to interest you?

In the first lines Liam and the interviewer talk about how when Oasis were starting out is that it was really helpful and important to get their name more out there, Liam says "Yeah man, it's THE f*cking music magazine!"

What % would you say the "quotes" are?

It seems that a large percentage of the interview is Liam talking about what he has been asked and what the interviewer has asked him.
